A Carbon Neutral Conference

Pope Francis invites us into a deeper relationship with Earth,

“Earth, our common home is like a sister with whom we share our life and a beautiful mother who opens her arms to embrace us” (LS, n. 1).

Yet we are damaging our Mother Earth in the way we are living.

“For humans to destroy the biological diversity of God’s creation, to degrade the integrity of Earth by causing changes in the climate, to strip Earth of its natural forests or to destroy it wetlands, to contaminate Earth’s waters, its land or its air and its life, to commit a crime against the natural world” (LS, n. 8)

Carbon Auditing

At the International Ignatian Ecospiritual Conference we aim to care for Earth by being carbon neutral. We will do this by identifying the carbon emissions we will generate at the conference.

Carbon Offset

We will invest in carbon offsetting. We will provide participants with the opportunities to take up carbon offsets for their individual carbon footprint.

Reduction of Ecological Impact

We aim to be a waste wise conference. We will review all the ways that our ecological impact can be reduced.
